Throttle Full Open Switch HVAC: Description and Operation

The kick-down function switches off the A/C compressor for 12 seconds when activated. A/C kick-down is controlled by:
- A/C kick-down switch, .
- Automatic transmission control unit, J217 on vehicles equipped with 4-speed automatic transmission.

The A/C kick-down switch is located under the accelerator pedal on vehicles equipped. It will activate when the accelerator pedal is pressed toward the floor. The kick-down switch will close and send a ground signal to terminal 9 on rear of the A/C control head.
