Subject:
Transmission Control Module New Shifting Performance When Using Manual Mode

Model(s):
V8 M.Y. 1990

Repairs requiring replacement of the transmission control module with version 441 927 156 HA will produce a somewhat different shifting configuration, when using the manual mode.

Customers who are used to using the manual mode will notice if 1st gear is selected when driving off from a standstill, the tranmission will remain in this gear until you select 2nd gear and will stay in 2nd gear until you select 3rd gear.

If you drive off from a standstill with the selector lever in "3" or "D", the transmission will start in 1st gear and quickly upshift through 2nd gear and into 3rd gear (considerably quicker than in the "E" or "S" mode).

With the selector lever in "D", the transmission will upshift into 3rd or 4th depending on accelerator pedal and vehicle speed.

If you do not manually downshift when stopping, the transmission will automatically shift into 1st gear just before the vehicle comes to a standstill.

When the selector lever is moved from a higher gear to a lower gear, the automatic transmission will only shift down if this is possible without overreving the engine.
