Computers and Control Systems: Description and Operation
Circuit Description
The CIS-E III system uses two separate electronic control units to manage engine control functions. The fuel injection control unit and the ignition control unit control fuel delivery, idle speed and ignition timing based on input from these components:
- Coolant temperature sensor
- Oxygen sensor
- Air flow sensor potentiometer
- Idle and full throttle switches
- Altitude sensor
- Ignition control unit
- Knock sensor
- Ignition distributor hall sender
The CIS-E III system manages engine functions through signals to the following components:
- Differential pressure regulator
- Cold start valve
- Idle stabilizer valve
- Ignition coil with power stage
- Carbon canister on/off valve
The CIS-E III system has an expanded fault memory for self-diagnosis.
