Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVINGA/C Compressor:
1. Remove ribbed V-belt: go to Engine Drive Belt, adjustments.
2. Loosen bolts B and remove compressor from mount.
If removing compressor completely:
a. Discharge A/C system.
b. Remove A/C lines from compressor.
c. Remove compressor.
INSTALLING
1. Insert two bushings C into compressor mount.
2. Install bolts B and tighten.
^ Torque to 22 Nm (16 ft lb).
3. Install, align and tension ribbed V-belt: go to A/C Compressor Ribbed Belt, Service and Repair.
4. Reinstall A/C lines to compressor using new O-ring seals.
5. Evacuate and recharge A/C system.
NOTES:
- If the A/C compressor is replaced as the result of internal malfunction, also replace the accumulator and restrictor. Add 220cc (7.4 oz) of refrigerant oil to the new accumulator before installing. Replacement A/C compressors supplied by the Parts Department are filled with 80cc (2.70 oz) of refrigerant oil.
- A/C compressor and power steering pump mount A can be removed and installed without discharging the A/C system.
