Work Procedure

NOTE:
The cruise control unit is located below the air filter housing.

- Remove strut crossover bar (4 bolts)

- Loosen left and right air intake bellows

- Remove engine cover

- Remove air filter

- Remove air filter housing

- Snap out ignition cable guide bracket

- Remove ignition cable guide bracket





- Remove securing clip arrow -A- from rod ball joint; disconnect rod

- Disconnect hose from cruise control vacuum unit

- Remove attaching nut and remove vacuum unit together with rod

- Remove rod bushing together with rod from vacuum unit bracket

- Move to workbench and place rod into vise

- Clearly mark position of ball joint/lock nut for reassembly

- Remove ball joint and lock nut from rod

- Remove rod from vise

- Clean rod with emery cloth

- Remove rod bushing -2- (discard) and replace with new bushing, part number 811 907 423

- Re-attach lock nut and ball joint, lock in previous position

- Connect new bushing to vacuum unit bracket ensure that bushing is properly seated in position (Rod must move freely in bushing)

- Reinstall all parts in reverse order use new securing clip part number N 015 528 3

- Ensure that rod is not under tension (play: 0.5 - 1.0 mm)

- Check accelerator cable/cruise control operation
