Low Pressure Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair

Function
- Switches A/C compressor clutch OFF when A/C system suction pressure is too low (protects compressor when refrigerant system is discharged).
- Switch opens (compressor OFF): 1.6-1.7 bar (23-25 psi).
- Switch closes (compressor ON): 3.1-3.6 bar (45-52 psi).
- Located in plenum chamber, right.

Removing And Installing
- Remove plenum tray.
- Remove A/C refrigerant low pressure switch. Refrigerant system remains closed (valve under switch).








- Install new O-ring -A- (9.3 mm x 1.8 mm). Tightening torque: 5 Nm (44 in lb).

NOTE: Only use O-rings specified for use with R-12 refrigerant and refrigerant oil.

- DO NOT reuse O-rings, always replace.
- Lubricate O-rings with A/C refrigerant oil before installing.
- Always use correct size O-ring.
- During installation, ensure proper seat in groove.
- Keep work area, components and O-rings clean.
