Locking Pump Operational Differences
Differences in operation between 4A0 862 257B and 4A0 862 257D, F or G central locking pumpsSummary:
The "D", "F" or "G" version pump changes the operation of the unlock and interior light functions of the central locking pump. All other functions including locking and infrared operation are unchanged.
Note:
The section describes the differences in the unlock and interior light functions. "Operates the central locking pump" means the central locking pump runs to unlock all doors or the trunk not already mechanically unlocked.
Audi 100, S4
4A0 862 257B pump
^ Briefly turning the door or trunk key to the unlock position:
- unlocks that door or trunk only (mechanical unlock)
- disarms the alarm
^ Holding the door or trunk key in the unlock position for at least half a second:
- operates the central locking pump
- disarms the alarm
Audi 90
4A0 862 257D, F or G Pump
^ Turning the door key to the unlock position once (regardless of how long the key is held in that position):
- unlocks that door only (mechanical unlock)
- disarms the alarm
- turns on the interior lights
^ Turning the door key to the unlock position twice in rapid succession:
- operates the central locking pump
- disarms the alarm
- turns on the interior lights
^ Turning the trunk key to the unlock once (regardless of how long the key is held in that position):
- unlocks the trunk only (mechanical unlock)
- disarms the alarm
^ Turning the trunk key to the unlock position twice in rapid succession:
- operates the central locking pump
- disarms the alarm
- turns on the interior lights

^ Turning the door key to the unlock position (regardless of how long the key is held in that position):
