Condition:

Unsatisfactory fastening of the roof molding strip.


Production:

Additional fastening points for the cover strip as of October 1991 VIN 4A NN 049087.


Service:











- Remove B-pillar trim
- Pull off cover 1 downward
- Remove screws 2 and 4
- Remove trim 3

Carefully pry cover strip 1A from roof molding 2A. In area AA above the B-pillar make three (3) 1 mm deep indentations 10 mm apart with a round nose punch or a center punch.

Reinstall the B-pillar trim by screw 4 in the front first then the two lower screws 2. Install screw 4 in the rear last. Install the cover cap insuring the locking tab locks in place. If the lock tab does not hold securely, use clear silicone on the heads of screws 2 and allow to dry sufficiently.

If new roof moldings 4A5 853 703G/704G 01C and cover strips 4A5 853 709C/710C 01C are installed, they will also require peening.
