General Information of Servotronic System

The Servotronic system electronically regulates power steering assistance according to vehicle speed. The system provides greater steering assistance at low speeds (for parking) and less assistance at high speeds.

If a malfunction occurs in the Servotronic system, the power steering system will still operate.

If the steering is heavier than normal at low speeds (e.g. when parking), a malfunction may be present in the electronic regulation of the Servotronic system.

If the steering is heavier than normal when turning to one side only (e.g. steering light when turning right and heavy when turning left), a hydraulic system malfunction may be present. To repair, replace power steering gear, see Repair Manual, section 48-50.
