Seat Belt Systems: Description and Operation

WARNING!
DO NOT re-use any fasteners that are worn or deformed in normal use. Many fasteners are designed to be used only once and become unreliable and may fail when used a second time. This includes, but is not limited to, nuts, bolts, washers, self4ocking nuts or bolts, circlips, cotter pins. Always follow recommendations given in this publication. For replacements always use new parts.

CAUTION!
- Testing, assembling and repairing three-point seat belts equipped with pyrotechnic tensioners must only be done by trained service technicians.
- Before connecting a tensioner, all mechanical parts, including those for the three-point seat belt, must be correctly installed and tightened.
- Only the person involved with this procedure may be inside the vehicle.
- Belt tensioners must not be opened or repaired. Always use new parts.
- Belt tensioner units that have fallen from a height of 20 in. (50 cm) or more, do not function, or are damaged, must not be installed in a vehicle.
- Belt tensioner units that are mechanically damaged (dents or cracks) must be replaced.
- Belt tensioner units must be installed immediately after removal from the shipping container.
- During work interruptions, the belt tensioner unit must again be placed in the shipping container
- Never point the open end of the belt tensioner unit toward another person.
- After handling a belt tensioner that was discharged, always wash hands.

CAUTION!
- Storing and transporting pyrotechnic belt tensioner units must comply with applicable regulations for explosive devices.
- Do not leave a pyrotechnic belt tensioner unsupervised.
- Do not let belt tensioner units come in contact with grease or cleaning fluids.
- Do not expose belt tensioner units to temperatures above 212°F (10 0°C), not even briefly, or to sparks or open flame

E - Attachment point - right rear center
F - Attachment point - outer rear floor
G - Attachment point - seat frame
