Service Hints

Basic Set

No basic settings can be performed on the 01F transmission because the adaptive shifting logic is always reset when cycling the ignition key.

Checking Fault Memory

- DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) 2131 "Brake Light Switch F" may occur on the VAG 1551 scan tool. Note Similiar to V8 automatic transmissions this DTC is recorded after ignition is turned on and erased after the first time the brake pedal is depressed.

- After depressing the brake pedal cheek fault memory again to ensure I'ault is erased.

Measuring ATF Level

- Until a sufficient quantity of 01F automatic transmission dipsticks are available, the dipstick for the 018 V8 automatic transmission can be modified to obtain the correct measurement.

To modifiy the V8 dipstick, Part No. 018 321 431 D, measure from the minimum groove 37mm upwards and mark the shaft at this point (arrow B).

The 01F ATF must be 60~C-80~C (140~F-176~F) to correctly check the level.

Note
- The ATF temperature can be checked using the VAG 1551 Scan Tool.
- Access function 08 "Read Measuring Value Block" and select display group 00
- The first value in display minus 50 equals the temperature of the ATF Fluid in ~C.

- At this temperature, the minimum level using the V8 dipstick will be on the lower groove (arrow A).
- The maximum level should not exceed the modified maximum mark (arrow B).

Note
The V8 dipstick is larger in diameter than the 01F and will require some effort to insert into the filler tube due to the curvature.
