Service

The key code is located on the steering/ ignition lock only.

It is necessary to remove the steering lock cylinder to obtain the key code.

(1992 100's & S4 only) Removing of the lock cylinder is described in the repair'manual Group 94 pages 94-120-1 to 94-120-5, "Steering lock housing /lock cylinder removing/installing".

^ 30/90 is the production date of the cylinder i.e. 30th calendar week of 1990.


NOTE

Every new vehicle comes with a plastic tag attached to the key ring which contains the key code. To avoid costly and time consuming removal of the steering/ignition lock cylinder:

- Record the key code with the dealership records for the vehicle.

- Recommend to the vehicle owner to record the key code and keep it in a safe place at home.
