Cruise Control/Shift Lock
Circuit Description
Power to the cruise control and shift lock systems is supplied via fuse #12 (S12) on the main fuse/relay panel. The cruise control unit modulates the vacuum control motor to control vacuum and throttle position based on input from thecruise control switch, the brake light switch and the speedometer. A vacuum vent valve at the brake pedal vents the vacuum in the system and signals the cruise control unit to deactivate the vacuum control motor.
For 1991-1992 models, this circuit section contains information about cruise control only. See the circuit section entitled Four-speed Automatic Transmission for information about the automatic transmission and shift lock. Electrical Diagrams
WARNING: The driver-side airbag is an explosive device. Before removing the steering wheel or steering column switches, always disconnect the airbag power-supply connector, refer to "Air Bag Systems" for more information.
