Cruise Control: Description and Operation
Circuit Description
Power for the cruise control is supplied via fuse #12 (S12). The cruise control unit modulates the vacuum control motor which varies vacuum and throttle position. Vacuum vent valves at the clutch and brake pedals vent the vacuum in the system and send signals to the cruise control unit to deactivate the vacuum control motor.
The cruise control unit receives signals from the instrument cluster(speedometer), the brake light switch, and the cruise control switch on the steering column.
WARNING: The driver-side airbag is an explosive device. Before removing the steering wheel or steering column switches, always disconnect the airbag power-supply connector, refer to "Air Bag Systems" for more information.
