Bosch Motronic for the 2.22 Liter 5 cylinder Turbo

DESCRIPTION
The Motronic Engine Management System combines the ignition system, fuel injection system, charge pressure control system, and emissions system into a single electronically controlled system. The Motronic system uses a single control module with an internal digital micro-computer. A number of three dimensional maps are stored in the control module's memory. These maps are used to control ignition timing, knock regulation, injection timing, boost pressure and all other subsystems.

PURPOSE
The Motronic Engine Management System is to electronically regulate the air/fuel mixture, boost pressure, idle speed and ignition timing to achieve optimum engine performance. Optimum performance means the best possible compromise between the demands of high power, low fuel consumption, and the cleanest possible exhaust emissions.
