Component Locations

V8-MOTRONIC Under Hood Component Layout:

1. AIR MASS SENSOR: Located on the top rear of the intake manifold

2. CARBON CANISTER SHUT-OFF/FREQUENCY VALVE: Located on the inner fender, between the fender and the engine coolant reservoir.

3. CONNECTOR BRACKET FOR ENGINE SENSORS: Located on the rear of the left side cyl. head.

A. Engine speed sensor connector.
B. Oxygen sensor connector.
C. Oxygen sensor heating element connector.
D. Crankshaft position (reference) sensor connector.

4. COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for engine management): Located on the rear of the right side cyl. head.

5. COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for instrument panel temperature indicator): Located on the water outlet to the radiator, front of left side cyl. head.

6. CRANKSHAFT POSITION (REFERENCE) SENSOR: Located on the left rear of the engine block where the engine and transmission meet, along with the engine speed sensor.

7. ENGINE SPEED SENSOR: Located on the left rear of the engine block where the engine and transmission meet, along with the crankshaft position sensor.

8. FUEL INJECTORS (CYLS. #1-#4): Located on the right side top of engine, installed in the intake manifold where the manifold runners bolt to the cyl. head.

9. FUEL INJECTORS (CYLS. #5-#8): Located on the left side top of engine, installed in the intake manifold where the manifold runners bolt to the cyl. head.

10. IDLE STABILIZER VALVE: Located on the front of the intake manifold, bolted to the front of the throttle valve assembly.

11. IGNITION COIL W/POWER OUTPUT STAGE (RIGHT SIDE): Located on the fire wall behind the right side cyl. head.

12. IGNITION COIL W/POWER OUTPUT STAGE (LEFT SIDE): Located on the fire wall behind the left side cyl. head.

13. IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR (RIGHT SIDE) W/HALL SENSOR: Located on the rear of the right side cyl. head.

14. IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR (LEFT SIDE): Located on the rear of the left side cyl. head.

15. INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR: Located on the front of the intake manifold, concealed by the idle stabilizer valve.

16. RIGHT SIDE KNOCK SENSOR (CYLS. #1-#4): Located bolted to the engine block in the valley beneath the intake manifold.

17. LEFT SIDE KNOCK SENSOR (CYLS. #5-#8): Located bolted to middle of the left side of the engine block, beneath the exhaust manifold.

18. THROTTLE VALVE SWITCHES AND POTENTIOMETER: Located on the front of the intake manifold, on the throttle valve assembly, just below the idle stabilizer valve.

COMPONENTS NOT IDENTIFIED IN DIAGRAM

FUEL PUMP RELAY:
Located in position #10 of main fuse/relay panel, (behind the side kick panel in the front passenger footwell).

MOTRONIC ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECM):
Located, along with the transmission control unit, under the instrument panel, above the drivers footwell. The MOTRONIC ECM is the top control unit with the red wiring harness.

OXYGEN SENSOR:
Located under the car, on the rear of the pipe that joins the right and left bank exhaust header pipes.

EGR Valve
Located next to the right cylinder head above the exhaust manifold.

EGR Temperature Sensor
Located next to the EGR valve in the pipe to the intake.

EGR Frequency Valve
