Engine Stalling due to low ATF level in the Transmission

Model(s):
V8 Quattro from 1990 m.y.

CONDITION

^ Engine stalls when coming to a stop

^ ATF leaking dripping

^ ATF level too low




^ ATF leaks from connector union -1- between oil pressure line -2- and final drive housing at right side of transmission.

SERVICE




^ Remove air cleaner housing to inspect described area (arrow - transmission shown removed for illustration purposes only).

^ Remove right front wheel.

^ Using a crowfoot socket and a long extension with a swivel head remove connector union from oil pressure line and transmission housing.

^ Clean threads of connector union and reinstall with removable

^ Loctite or equivalent (locally available)

^ Tighten connector union to 35 Nm (26 ft lb)

^ Reinstall oil pressure line.

^ Check for leaks

^ Reinstall air cleaner housing and right front wheel.
