Door shell, adjusting

Gap dimensions:
- adjust by loosening hinge bolts on A-pillar and sliding door (oversized holes in hinge).

a = 4 + 1 mm
b = 4.5 + 1 mm
c = 3.5 + 1 mm

Body contour, adjusting

- adjust by loosening hinge bolts of door shell and sliding door (oversized holes in hinge).

- adjust by sliding locking wedge ==> Fig.1

Fig.1 Locking wedge, adjusting
- loosen two screws

- slide locking wedge until door shell is flush with body contour.

- tighten screws

Door component carrier, adjusting

Fig. 2 Door window, adjusting

- adjust adjustable window stop of window lifter -1- with external Torx socket E6.
- contact area -Bof window at inner sealing lip.

Fig. 3 Door window, adjusting
- adjust window -2- with door closed.

- adjust upper stop of window lifter so that inner sealing lip of door window seal -1- contacts upper window edge in entire area -B- under pretension.
^ a = at least 0.5 mm
- do not adjust window too high as otherwise greater door closing forces result.

CAUTION
Tight seal is only assured when sealing lip contacts window with at least 0.5 mm pretension.

Note

Door shell must be adjusted
- loosen bolts -3- (arrows)
- close door
- one mechanic presses door carrier for door components against roof and pillar. Carrier must be slightly over pressured (return forces through rubber seal).
- at the same time second mechanic tightens upper bolts, then slides adjusting wedge -4- upward until it contacts surfaces of door shell -2- and door component carrier -1-.
- tighten bolts to 30 N-m (22 ft.lb.)

CAUTION
Adjusting wedge -4- must always be installed.

- check reference dimension ==> Fig. 4

- by sliding adjustment wedge -4- door tilt in B-pillar area can be adjusted. If door protrudes too far in rear area, i.e. at bottom, adjusting wedge must be pushed further upward. This causes door to tilt toward vehicle center at bottom and outward on top.

Fig.4 Reference dimension for door carrier for door components

- outer sealing lip -2- must contact entire contour on pillar and roof trim strip -1-.

- distance between roof trim strip -1- and door window -3-

^ a = 6.5 +/- 1 mm
