ACTUATION, CHECKING

^ Idle Air Control valve electrical function OK




- slip protective boot away from Idle Air Control valve harness connector but do not disconnect.

- perform Output DTM using VAG 1551 scan tool (function 03 - Output Diagnostic Test Mode) until Idle Air Control valve is actuated.

--> Repair Group D2 -30

- connect LED tester VAG 1 527B between terminal -1- and engine ground.

^ LED tester must flash

- connect LED tester VAG 15278 between terminal -2- and battery positive.

^ LED tester must light up

If NOT

- perform MPI Electrical Test, steps 2.9 and 2.10

--> Repair Group D2




- repair or replace wiring as necessary between

^ Idle Air Control valve terminal -1- and MPI control module terminal -11D

^ Idle Air Control valve terminal -2- and MPI control module terminal -7D-

If wiring is OK (but there is NO actuation):

- replace MPI control module

If actuation and wiring are OK but valve is still NOT activated:

- replace Idle Air Control valve (mechanically seized)

- erase DTC memory, test drive vehicle.

- report results to Helpline.
