Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc: Description and Operation
NOTE:- When a new mode is introduced, a new generation of radio with updated design and technology is installed.
- Should problems arise, it is important that the technician understands the function and operation of the stereo system. Additional information is contained in the radio's operating manual.
- When troubleshooting, replacing or repairing the stereo system, see appropriate wiring diagram as well as the installation instructions enclosed with the replacement part.
- Removing and installing interior trim.
- Use only authorized Audi replacement radios and/or parts to ensure proper system performance and optimum reception.
- Both active (amplified) and passive (non-amplified) speakers are used.
- Power (B +) is supplied to the radio via a fuse in the fuse panel.
- The radio anti-theft code is fixed (cannot be changed) and must be re-entered into the radio whenever B+ has been disconnected.
When installing a radio/CD changer, note the following:
- Radio connectors provided in the vehicle are intended for original Audi radios.
- Aftermarket radios with other style connectors must use an adapter cable.
- When connecting the radio, ensure that the vehicle speed signal wire is not short circuited or malfunctions in other vehicle systems may occur.
- Connecting the vehicle speed signal wire to aftermarket radios may also cause other vehicle systems to malfunction.
- When preparing CD changer only the wiring harness for the CD changer and the threaded bolts for the fastening of the retainer are already installed in vehicle. The retainer, interface and CD changer should be installed according to instructions.
