Removing and Installing
NOTE:
- Compressor bracket can be removed and installed without discharging A/C refrigerant system.
- If engine is to be removed or installed, remove oil filter
To remove compressor from bracket:
- Remove coolant fan.
- Mark travel direction of ribbed belt.
- Remove ribbed belt.
- Remove bracket for A/C line.
- Remove A/C compressor from bracket.
- Remove bracket.
If A/C compressor is to be removed completely:
- Discharge A/C refrigerant system.
CAUTION!
Support A/C compressor with a wire after removing from bracket. Do not allow compressor to hang from A/C lines/hoses.

4 - Alien screw with washer
- 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
5 - A/C compressor with clutch
6 - Bracket for A/C line
7 - Washer
8 - Bolt
- 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
9 - Bracket for A/C line
WARNING!
Do not re-use any fasteners that are worn or deformed in normal use. Many fasteners are designed to be used only once and become unreliable and may fail when used a second time. This includes, but is not limited to, nuts, bolts, washers, self-locking nuts or bolts, circlips, cotter pins. Always follow recommendations given in this publication. For replacements always use new parts.
2.8 liter V6 engine only
A/C compressor, removing from bracket
- Remove bolt -A-.
- Remove A/C compressor bracket mounting bolts.
- Pull refrigerant line -B- upwards (right arrow).
- Remove compressor from bracket towards front (left arrow).
