Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Adjustments
- Remove left transmission support, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.- Unscrew selector lever cable at selector shaft lever.
- Turn back lever clamping screw (arrow -1-) fully and pull lever off selector shaft.
- Turn selector shaft -1- in opposite direction of travel into "P" position (as far as stop) with 8 mm open-end wrench. Then turn selector shaft back two detents into "N" position.
- Fit adjusting aid onto selector shaft.
NOTE: The adjusting aid 0501 311 626 is supplied as a service part only with multi-function Transmission Range (TR) switch.
- Loosen multi-function TR switch mounting screws (arrows).
- Turn multi-function TR switch far enough to be able to align hole in adjusting aid with adjustment on switch, using stud or 4 mm (5/32 inch) diameter drill bit.
- Tighten multi-function TR switch mounting screws.
Tighten to: 8 Nm (71 inch lb)
- Remove adjusting aid and pin or drill.
- Install lever on selector shaft and tighten clamping screw.
Tighten to: 8 Nm (71 inch lb)
- Attach selector lever cable and tighten mounting nut.
Tighten to: 9 Nm (80 inch lb)
- Re-connect harness connector for multi-function TR switch.
- Release engine from engine support bridge.
- Adjust selector lever cable, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
NOTE: If the selector lever indicator in the instrument panel does not agree with the selector lever position after repeated adjustment of the selector lever cable and of the multi-function TR switch, replace multi-function TR switch. Service and Repair
- Again take up weight of engine at engine support bridge.
- Install left transmission support, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
