Control Arm: Service and Repair

Fig. 60 Exploded View Of Control Arm.:

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheels.
2. Remove fasteners securing guide for wheel speed sensor wiring, then the guide.
3. Disconnect spring from brake pressure regulator, then loosen trapezoidal arm mounting bolts from wheel bearing housing.
4. Loosen trapezoidal arm to pivot mount bolt, Fig.60, then the trapezoidal arm to crossmember mounting bolt.
5. Loosen trapezoidal arm to support mounting bolt, then remove support to body mounting bolts and support.
6. Remove trapezoidal arm to support mounting bolt, then the pivot mount to wheel bearing housing bolt.
7. Remove trapezoidal arm mounting bolts from wheel bearing housing.
8. Remove trapezoidal arm to crossmember mounting bolt, then the trapezoidal arm.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install new self locking bolts for trapezoidal arm to wheel bearing housing, pivot mount to wheel bearing housing and pivot mount to trapezoidal arm.
b. Tighten nuts and bolts to specifications.
