Power Steering Pump: Adjustments

Two technicians are necessary to perform the following adjustment. Wheels must be in a straight ahead position on ground and engine must be Off.
1. Move steering wheel back and forth approximately 30° from center position and listen for rattling and popping noises from steering gear.
2. Second technician turns adjusting screw clockwise until rattling and popping noises are not heard inside vehicle, then turn in adjusting screw an additional 45°.
3. Test drive vehicle and verify proper adjustment, readjusting if necessary. If steering does not return to straight ahead on its own, loosen adjusting screw approximately 15°.
