Output Diagnosis Test Mode (Function 03)

CAUTION: Do not connect the VAG1598 test box or any of the VAG1595 adapter cables to the A/C control head while using the VAG1551 scan tool.

To check Idle Air Control (IAC) and A/C compressor engagement functions during output DTM:
- Remove Engine Control Module (ECM) See 'Powertrain Management.'
- Using adapter cables VAG1598/11 and / or VAG1598/12, connect VAG1598 test box to ECM.

Requirements:
- If necessary, output DTM may be repeated several times.
- Check DTC memory and eliminate and repair any malfunctions.
- Initiate "Basic Setting" function 04.
- Stop engine (switch ignition off).

Procedure:
- Connect VAG1551 scan tool.
- Start engine.

Indicated on display (Operating modes 1 and 2 are displayed alternately):
V.A.G. - ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC HELP
1 - Rapid data transfer
2 - Blink code output
Press button -1- to select "Rapid data transfer" operating model.

NOTE:
- Press the "HELP" button for additional information.
- Press the -> button to advance the OBD program sequence.
- Press the "PRINT" button to switch on the scan tool printer (indicator lamp in button comes on).

Indicated on display:

Press buttons -0- and -8- to insert "AC/Heating Electronics" address word 08.

Indicated on display:

Press -Q- button to confirm input.

- Press -> button to proceed to next component.

Ending Output DTM:
- Press -C- button to end output DTM.
- Check DTC memory after completing output DTM. Checking and Erasing DTC Memory
- If "Function is unknown or cannot be carried out at the moment" appears on display, use "Read Measuring Value Block" function 08 (display group 1) to determine the cause of the malfunction. Read Measuring Value Block (Function 08)
