Check/inspect for condition(s) described in this Bulletin when performing Delivery Inspection. When necessary perform corrective action(s) as outlined prior to delivery to the customer.

Door shell, adjusting





1. Gap width, adjusting
- adjust by moving door hinges --> Fig. 1
^ a = 5 + 1 mm
^ b = 5.5 + 1 mm

2. Body contour, adjusting
- adjust at hinges (over sized holes in hinge), hinge attachment to A/B pilar --> Fig. 3

3. Preventing wind noise

- adjust at slots in hinges (hinge attachment to door) in rear area of doors at striker pin. --> Fig.4 and 5

Cross section A-A, B-B, C-C.

^ c = 0.5 +/- 0.5 mm Cross section D-D
^ d = 14.5 mm

4. Height, adjusting

- slide carrier up or down in door shell --> Fig. 6 and 7

5. Seal, adjusting

- swivel carrier toward center of car (upper bolt screwed in loosely) --> Fig. 6 and 7

CAUTION
Before making this adjustment it is necessary that the rear door is properly adjusted.

- unscrew bolts -1-

- loosen bolts -2-, close door and adjust gap by moving door.
^ a = 5 +/- 1 mm

- screw in threaded bushing -3- as needed

- screw in bolts and tighten
^ 30 N-m (22 ft.lb.)

- check gap width

- loosen bolts -1- and -2-

- move door with hinges

- tighten bolts.

- loosen hinge bolts and move door as required. (slotted holes in hinges)

- tighten bolts

- adjust striker pin in rear area of door
- striker pin -1-, tightening torque
^ 50 N-m (37 ft.lb.)

- dished washer -2-
- plastic washer -3-

Note
If necesessary install two dished washers.

Note
Window and door shell must be adjusted.

- loosen bolts.
- close door.
- one mechanic presses component carrier agains roof and pillar (returns to position by rubber seal pressure).

- at the same time a second mechanic, working from the inside of the car, tightens upper bolts first and then the lower bolts to 20 N-m (15 ft.lb.). During this procedure door shell must not be pushed inward.
- check specified dimensions.

- outer sealing lip -7- must make contact along contour of pillar and roof trim moulding -3-.

- outer window sealing lip -8- must not project outward above roof trim moulding -3-.
