Head restraint upholstery covers, removing/installing

Removing

- Remove head restraint from seat.

- Push back wire bracket -1- with screwdriver and remove guide rod -2-





- Push locking tab -1- in direction of arrow (outwards)
- Pull out retaining rod





Grind screwdriver tip to following dimensions

a = 65 mm
b = approx 5 mm

- File edges -1- and smooth with fine emery cloth





- Use modified screwdriver to pry clamping strips from fastening channel around entire head restraint

Note
If cover is already damaged pry out plastic clamping strip in center and separate.





Installing

- Stretch both plastic clamping strips

Note
If necessary, the clamping strips can be warmed slightly with a heat gun to make installation easier

- Install clamping strip into three sides of mounting channel





- Carefully pry clamping strip into mounting channel along fourth edge





- using tool, press clamping strip securely into channel all around head restraint
- press other end of cover through head restraint frame and pull cover with force at all four corners





- place clamping strip over three corners as previously described





- carefully pry fourth corner of clamping strip into channel with tool





- press clamping strip securely into channel with tool
