Infrared Key Transmitter Functional Testing
NoteTo verify that there is an infrared output signal, a commercially available sensor (such as the Radio Shack Infrared Sensor, Catalog No. 276-0099) can be obtained locally.
To use:
- charge the sensing patch by exposing it to fluorescent light or daylight for a short period
- hold the sensing patch 10mm from the infrared LED on the key
- press transmitter button once
Specified result:
A quick flash of light will appear on the sensing patch each transmitter button is pressed.
If specified result NOT obtained:
- check batteries in the key
The sensing patch shows signal presence, not signal intensity. A quick flash can still occur with a low battery charge. Each battery must have a minimum of 1.5 volts. Ensure the batteries are installed properly. If the batteries are installed with incorrect polarity, they could be damaged or change polarity.
CAUTION
Part numbers are for reference only. Always check with your Parts Department for latest information.
- replace with new batteries, Part No. N 102 522 01 or batteries known to be OK
- recheck infrared key operation
If still NOT OK
- replace keys
