Front Passengers Airbag - Removing/Installing
FRONT PASSENGER'S AIRBAG UNIT, REMOVING/INSTALLINGWARNING
Always disconnect the airbag voltage supply connector before working on any airbag or steering column component Disconnecting the battery Ground (GND) strap alone will NOT prevent accidental airbag deployment
CAUTION!
Before servicing any part of the electrical system, disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- obtain radio security code
- disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap
- disconnect airbag voltage supply (B+) connector,
- remove glove compartment, => Repair Group 70
CAUTION!
Always replace bolt -A- new after removing. Clean threads of nut before ins tailing new bolt -A-.
remove airbag unit mounting bolt -A- (Torx)
- pull out front passenger's airbag unit from instrument panel and remove both airbag unit connector retaining straps
- remove both airbag unit connectors and remove airbag unit Installing
- install in reverse order of removal noting the following:
- ensure that left "Airbag Passenger 1" connector and right "Airbag Passenger 2" connector are connected to the airbag unit properly
- tighten front passenger's airbag unit mounting bolt -A- to 24 Nm (17.7 ft lb)
