Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Throttle Position Sensor:

The Throttle Position Sensor and Closed Throttle Position Switch are in one housing. The housing is located on the throttle body and operated by the throttle shaft.

The signal from the throttle position sensor represents the throttle valve opening. The throttle valve opening above 35° is used for charge pressure control.

The signal from the throttle position sensor is used as a substitute function for the mass air flow sensor and diagnosis of the closed throttle position switch. In case of a fault, the throttle valve opening of 28° is used as a substitute function and charge pressure control is switched off.
