With VAG 1551 Scan Tool

OUTPUT DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE
(VAG 1551 function 03)

The following components are checked via the output diagnostic test mode:
^ Fuel Injector, Cyl. # 1 - N30
^ Fuel Injector, Cyl. # 2 - N31
^ Fuel Injector, Cyl. # 4 - N33
^ Fuel Injector, Cyl. # 5 - N83
^ Fuel Injector, Cyl. # 3 - N32
^ Idle Air Control (IAC) valve - N71
^ EVAP canister purge regulator valve - N80
^ Wastegate bypass regulator valve - N75

Notes:
The Output DTM can only be carried out with the ignition switched ON and the engine NOT running.
The Output DTM will be interrupted if engine is started or if a speed pulse is detected.
During Output DTM, the individual components are activated until the "ARROW" button is used to switch to the next component or the Output DTM is ended.
The components are checked by listening for sounds of activation, and/or by touching.
If the output DTM is to be repeated without running the engine, switch OFF the ignition for approx. 20 seconds.

Procedure
- Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool, refer to Connecting and Operating VAG 1551 Scan Tool. Connecting and Operating VAG 1551 Scan Tool
- Press 0 and 1 buttons to select address word 01 "Engine electronics and continue switching until display appears as shown:

Note: Press the HELP button to print a list of possible malfunctions.
- Press buttons 0 and 3 to select function 03 "Output Diagnostic Test Mode".
- Display will appear as shown:

- Press Q button to enter input.
- Display will appear as shown:

Output DTM
Fuel Injector, Cyl. # 1 - N30

Throttle Valve:

- From engine compartment, open and release throttle valve.
^ When throttle returns to idle position, cylinder # 1 injector will begin clicking on and off.
- Confirm cylinder # 1 injector is activated, touch or listen for audible "clicks".
^ The injector will be triggered 5 times for 2 milliseconds, then the ECM will automatically switch to the next injector and begin activating it. This process will continue until all injectors have been activated.
- Press "ARROW" button to skip an injector.
- After all the injectors have been triggered press "ARROW" button to proceed to the next component.
- Display will appear as shown:

Output DTM
Idle Air Control Valve - N 71

The IAC valve is triggered (clicks) until switched to the next Output DTM using the "ARROW" button.
- Press "ARROW" button to proceed to the next step.
- Display will appear as shown:

EVAP canister purge regulator valve - N80

The EVAP canister purge regulator valve is activated (clicks) until switched to the next Output DTM using the "ARROW" button.
- Press "ARROW" button to proceed to the next step.
- Display will appear as shown:

Output Diagnostic Test Mode
Wastegate bypass regulator valve - N75

The wastegate bypass regulator valve is triggered (clicks) until the output DTM is ended using the "ARROW" button.
- Press "ARROW" button.
- Display will appear as shown:

Select function XX

If function O3 "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" is selected again the output DTM can be repeated.
If one or more of the components does not click or activate, check component, the wiring and/or the ECM.
