Actuator Signal Tests
Control signals to actuators, checking using test box VAG 1598- Connect test box VAG 1598 to transmission control unit. Refer to Connecting VAG 1598 Pin Out Box Connecting VAG 1598 Pin Out Box
- Switch on ignition
- To check, set digital multimeter DVOM to direct voltage measuring range 20 VDC.
- Switch on ignition and connect DVOM between socket 19 (positive) and socket 7
- Must be 10 - 12 volts
- If not replace control unit
Checking activation voltage
Note
The voltage is only applied during the diagnosis of the actuators.
For activation sequence refer to Output Diagnostic Test Mode. Output Diagnostic Test Mode
Conduct checks with DVOM and US 1115 (or VAG 1527/A) in turn.
- Set DVOM to measuring range 20 VDC and connect to sockets according to table.
Specification Table:
- Connect test light US 1115 (or VAG 1527/A) to the sockets, according to table.
Notes:
Test light US 1115 (or VAG 1527-A) only lights up faintly and flickers when checking solenoid valves 4 and 5.
If the clicking noises of the transmission relay in the control unit cannot be heard, replace transmission control unit.
If the clicking noises of the cruise control system relay cannot be heard in the control unit, check as follows:
- Connect DVOM between sockets 17 and 7.
- Must be 12 volts.
- If value is not reached, repair open circuit according to wiring diagram.
- If no open circuit is found, replace transmission control unit.
Repairing
- Replace transmission control unit after checking connecting wire to corresponding solenoid valve.
- If specified values for cruise control relay or for solenoid valve relay and kick-down switch (Air conditioner kick-down) are not reached, replace transmission control unit.
