1. Disarm air bag system as described under Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems), Service and Repair.
2. Remove trim from left and right hand sides of center console, Fig. 18.
3. Remove shift lever handle.
4. Remove cigarette lighter trim from center console. Remove screw located under cigarette lighter trim.
5. Remove air duct from rear of center console.
6. Pull parking brake lever fully upward, then remove handle from parking brake lever.
7. Remove radio unit.
8. Pull center console slightly rearward, then disconnect A/C and heater control head.
9. Lift center console upward, then disconnect electrical connectors.
10. Remove center console from vehicle.
11. Remove triggering unit retaining nuts, Fig. 14.
12. Disconnect triggering unit electrical connector, then remove control module.
13. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten control module retaining nuts to specifications.
