Front suspension strut, removal and installation1. Cover
2. Bump stop
3. Screw cap with cover 180 Nm (132 ft lb)
4. Piston rod
When loosening or tightening retaining nut, hold with Allen wrench
5. Shock absorber
May be replaced individually
Different version for vehicles with 4.2L engine
Checking:
Check by pushing together by hand (hold in installation position)
Piston rod should move smoothly and evenly through whole stroke, and return to its initial position
6. Wheel bearing housing
Never widen slit in wheel bearing housing (track control arm joint mounting), when pushing out track control arm joint pivot pin
7. Wheel bearing
Inside diameter is stepped
Large inside diameter of wheel bearing points towards wheel hub
8. Wheel hub
Stepped
9. Self-locking nut 55 Nm (41 ft lb)
Always replace
10. Self-locking nut 60 Nm (44 ft lb)
Always replace

Attach lower end to screw cap, upper end to spring retainer
