Function Selector Switch, Checking
A- Function selector switchB- RESET button
Select all computer functions in sequence by pressing upper or lower part of function selector switch -A-
If functions cannot be selected:
- Remove instrument cluster and disconnect connectors.
- Connect adapter cable VAG 1598/13 to 10-point instrument cluster connector (black).
- Set multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to measuring resistance (Ohm).
- Connect adapter cable VAG 1598/13 to test box.
- Connect multimeter between sockets 1 and 3 of VAG 1598 test box.
- Must be infinity Ohms (no continuity)
- Press RESET button -B-.
- Must be 0 ohms (continuity)
- Connect multimeter between sockets 1 and 4 of VAG 1598 test box.
- Must be infinity ohms (no continuity)
- Press upper function selector switch.
- Must be 0 Ohms (continuity)
- Connect multimeter between sockets 1 and 2 of VAG 1598 test box.
- Must be infinity ohms (no continuity)
- Press lower function selector switch.
- Must be 0 Ohms (continuity)
If one of the specified values is NOT obtained:
- Check wiring for open circuit according to wiring diagram, repair as necessary, or
- Replace function selector switch.
