Ignition Lock Cable: Service and Repair

NOTE: After installing the locking cable at the ignition starter switch, the locking cable must be
^ Adjusted. Adjustments
^ Then attached to the selector lever housing.

REMOVAL
- Remove center console, refer to Body and Frame.
- Remove steering wheel. Refer to Suspension and Steering
- Remove instrument cluster, refer to Instrument Panel Gauges and Warning Indicators.
- Move selector lever into "N" position.





- Remove hex bolts (arrows).





- Remove cap -1-.
- Remove spring clip -2- with locking cable -3-.
The locking cable can be lifted out of the mounting lug at the ignition starter switch by turning the cable -3- approx. 90°.

CAUTION: The locking cable must not be kinked when it is turned

- Remove clip for locking cable at air duct and remove cable.

INSTALLATION





- Insert locking cable from above into mounting lug on ignition starter switch (flattened sides of cable and mounting lug must be aligned) and turn locking cable down approx. 90°.

CAUTION: The locking cable must not be kinked when it is turned.

- Insert spring clip with locking cable -2-.

NOTE: When installing, ensure that the spring clip engages properly otherwise the cap cannot be installed.

- Install cap -1- onto ignition starter switch.
