The following will be added to the Audi 100 Repair Manual, Automatic Transmission 01F, at the next reprinting.
ABS CONTROL MODULE WIRING CONNECTION, CHECKING
The pin positions of the 35-pin connector for the ABS Control Module (J104) changed with the introduction of a new control module in 07/92.
Note:
The ABS Control Module is located under the left rear seal bench.
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) is located in the electronic box under the carpeting of the right footwell
- Connect test box VAG 1598 with adapter cable VAG 1598/5 to wiring harness connector for TCM (J21 7)
- Separate connector for ABS Control Module
- Check wiring connection between 35-pin connector of ABS Control Module (J104) and TCM (J217) with digital multimeter Fluke 83 (US 1119) and auxiliary cables from VAG 1594:
Pin Assignments
Specified value
^ Must be less than 1.5 Ohms (continuity)
- It multimeter reads (infinity) Ohms (no continuity), check for open circuit according to wiring diagram, repair as necessary
- It multimeter reads up to 20 K Ohms, check for short circuit to Ground (GND) according to wiring diagram, repair as necessary
- Check wiring it necessary; see wiring diagram
- It no wiring malfunctions are found, check ABS with VAG 1710, -> Technical Bulletin, Group 45, No.93-01, June 15, 1993
Note:
If malfunctions of the wheel speed sensors and wiring are not found, replace ABS Control Module (J104).
