Rear

Rear suspension strut, removal and installation







1 Suspension Strut
- Removing:
a. Remove wheel.
b. Support rear axle with transmission jack VAG 1383 A or equivalent, refer to Fig. 1.
c. Remove bottom fastening bolt.
d. Remove top fastening nuts.
e. Remove complete suspension strut.

- Installing:
a. Insert bottom fastening bolt for suspension strut.
b. Raise rear axle with transmission jack OTC 1765 A or equivalent until all top fastening nuts can be installed.
c. Tighten top fastening nuts.
d. Install wheel.
e. Lower rear axle.
f. Lower vehicle onto its wheels, tighten bottom fastening bolt.
- Repairing, refer to Suspension Strut, Repairing

2 Self-Locking Nut
- Always replace
- Tighten to: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)

3 Self-Locking Nut
- Always replace
- Tighten to: 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.)
- Tighten with vehicle standing on its wheels
