Display Group 017

NOTES:
^ Display group 017 is only used for vehicles equiped with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system.
^ On vehicles without EGR, "0" is always displayed in display fields 1, 2 and 4.
^ No EGR occurs during cold start in closed throttle position, -10°C to 30°C (14 to 86°F), and during "Basic Setting" function 04.
^ Since EGR is automatically shut OFF during function 04 "Basic Setting', display group 017 can be evaluated only in "Read Measuring Value Block" function 08.
^ If diagnosis conditions are fulfilled, the Engine Control Module (ECM) checks continuity through the EGR system after each start.
^ The diagnosis conditions are only achieved during a drive at 50-62 mph in 4th or 5th gear. If the diagnosis conditions are fulfilled, the diagnosis is active. In order to get a diagnosis result, driving must occur within approximately 1-1/2 to 5 minutes under the diagnosis conditions.

The diagnosis of the EGR continuity test (EGR quantity) is active as soon as the following conditions are fulfilled:
^ Speed: Constant drive
^ Engine speed: 2000-3000 RPM (see display group 003)
^ Engine load: 30-60%

NOTES on display fields 1 and 2:
^ time counters are displayed in display fields 1 and 2. If the diagnosis conditions are fulfilled, the counters are incremented (counted up), if outside the diagnostic conditions, they are decremented (counted down).
^ Counter 1 is increased by 1 as soon as counter 2 has reached the value "255". If the value "255" is reached, counter 2 jumps to "0" and starts to count up to "160".
^ Diagnosis is ended as soon as both counters have reached their final value. However, the diagnosis is only considered OK if at the end of diagnosis the EGR temperature in display field 4 is greater than 65°C (149°F).
^ If the EGR temperature is greater than 65°C (149°F) at the end of diagnosis, the diagnostic is ended.
^ If the EGR temperature is less than 65°C (149°F) at the end of diagnosis, the malfunction "16785" is stored in DTC memory.
^ If diagnosis of the EGR flow testing will be repeated selectively or after an OK diagnosis, shut the engine OFF and start it again.
