Actuator Resistance and Wiring Tests

Wires and internal resistance of actuators, checking

- Switch off ignition.

- Connect VAG 1598 with adapter cable VAG 1598/5 to transmission control unit 55-pin wiring harness connector only. Refer to Connecting VAG 1598 Pin Out Box. Connecting VAG 1598 Pin Out Box

- Switch DVOM to resistance measurement (Ohm range).

Specification Table:

Note on fault elimination:
If these values or one of the resistance values are not reached, check the wire between the 8-pin connector on the transmission and the 55-pin connector of the transmission.

Actuator element leads between 8 and 55 pin connectors, checking

- switch off ignition.

Note:
Connect VAG 1598 to 55-pin connector only of transmission wiring harness and place test box outside vehicle.

- Lower transmission until 8-pin connector is accessible.

Transmission Connection:

- Release bayonet catch on connector by turning to left (below) and remove plug (arrow) from transmission.

Connector View:

- Check wires between contacts of 8-pin connector and sockets of VAG 1598 using DVOM.

^ Must be 0 - 0.5 Ohms.

- Correct open circuit according to current flow diagram if one of the specified values is not reached.

- Replace transmission if no open circuit is detected while a fault is displayed during Fault memory recall for:

1 - Solenoid valves 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
2 - Speed sender (G 68)
3 - One of resistance values not reached

Note:
Before replacing transmission, recall fault memory once more and execute output check diagnosis.
