DTC 00538 Reference voltage

Note: The voltage supplied to throttle valve potentiometer (G 69) is monitored by the transmission control module (J 217). The voltage may deviate from 5 volts by maximum of 10%. If deviation is greater, it is regarded as a fault.

- Connect test box VAG 1598 to the transmission control module. Refer to Connecting VAG 1598 Pin Out Box.

- Set DVOM to measurement range 20 VDC and connect between sockets 45 and 7 and 27 and 7 on VAG 1598

- Switch on ignition

- Must be 4.5-5.5 volts

- Run engine

^ Must be 4.5-5.5 volts

- If not: check wire for open or short circuit using wiring diagram
