DTC 00789 Reverse light switch

Notes:
If reverse light switch (F 41) is not closed in selector lever position 1, or is closed in position R or P, switch is stored as defective.

If this fault is displayed, also check the multi-function switch.

- connect test box VAG 1598 with adapter cable 1598/5 on the wiring harness to the transmission control module. Do not connect adapter cable to transmission control module. Refer to Connecting VAG 1598 Pin Out Box.

- set DVOM to measurement range 20 VDC and connect between sockets 1 and 40 on VAG 1598.

- switch on ignition.

- set selector lever to D, 3, 2 and 1 in turn.

- must be 0 volts.

- if not, check wiring according to wiring diagram.

- replace switch (F 41) if no open circuit is found.
