Front Bumper: Service and Repair
Front bumper assembly, removing and installingWARNING!
• Do not re-use fasteners that are worn or deformed in normal use.
• Some fasteners are designed to be used only once, and are unreliable and may fail if used a second time. This includes, but is not limited to, nuts, bolts, washers, circlips and cotter pins. Replace these fasteners with new parts where indicated, and any other time it is deemed necessary by inspection.
1 - Bolt (2x)
23 Nm (17 ft lb)
2 - Cover
• Removing from bumper ~ Fig. 3
3 - Bumper
• To remove, remove bolts -1- and pull bumper with cover toward front
4 - Trim
Removing:
- Remove bumper-3-
- Remove bolts -7-, -8- and -12-
- Push pin out of expanding clip -6- and pull expanding clip out downward
- Pull trim toward outside at both ends (second technician required) and remove toward front
• Install in reverse order of removal
5 - Fog lights
• Removing and installing ~ Fig. 2
6 - Expanding clips (2x)
• Before removing trim, press pin toward inside and pull clip out and down
7 - Bolt and washer assembly (2x)
• 6 Nm (53 in lb)
• Remove before removing trim -4-
8 - Bolt and washer assembly
^ 6 Nm (53 in lb)
• Remove before removing trim -4-
9 - Nut and washer assembly
^ 6 Nm (53 in lb)
10 - Bracket
• After assembling trim -4-, bracket must be installed from below
11 - Impact absorber
• Removing and installing ~ Fig. 1
12 - Bolt and washer assembly
• 6 Nm (53 in lb)
• Remove to remove trim -4-

- Bolt 2 -Washer
- Remove bolts -4- and -5-.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft lb)
Fig. 2 - Removing And Installing Fog Lights:
- Remove screws -1- and washers -2-.
- Pull light -4-toward front and disconnect harness connector.
- To install, insert in direction of arrow and secure with screws -1-.
Tightening torque: 1 Nm (9 in lb)
Fig. 3 - Removing And Installing Bumper Cover:
- Remove bumper.
- Press cover -1- off bumper toward back using plastic wedges -2-.
- Starting on one side, lift bumper slightly from trim and remove clips from bumper one by one.
Notes:
• When installing, protect the bumper cover's painted surface from damage.
• The bumper must be pressed very firmly into the cover so that it can also engage in the bumper.
