Component Tests and General Diagnostics
CONNECTING PRESSURE GAUGE- Block off supply and return hoses with 3094 clamps.
- Press spring clip and disconnect fuel injector harness connector nearest hose/line union.
- Disconnect pressure line from pressure hose (arrow).
Counter-hold using flats on pressure hose fitting.
- Thread VAG1402/3 adapter into pressure line in place fitting on pressure hose.
- Connect VAG1402 pressure gauge and hose to VAG1402/3 adapter.
- Close gauge valve (lever to left).
- Re-connect fuel injector harness connector.
CHECKING
- Remove clamps from supply and return hoses.
- Start engine.
CAUTION: Run the engine with the gauge connected for no longer than 10 seconds.
- At idle speed, check power steering pump pressure on gauge (no longer than 10 seconds).
Specification: 100-110 bar (1450-1595 psi)
- Stop engine.
IF THE PUMP DOES NOT PRODUCE THE SPECIFIED PRESSURE
- Replace power steering pump. Service and Repair
- Block off supply and return hoses with 3094 clamps.
- Press spring clip and disconnect fuel injector harness connector near gauge/adapter connection.
- Disconnect VAG1402 pressure gauge and hose.
- Disconnect VAG1402/3 adapter from pressure line.
- Re-connect pressure line and pressure hose.
Counter-hold using flats on pressure hose fitting.
- Re-connect fuel injector harness connector.
- Remove clamps from supply and return hoses.
- Start engine.

Let engine idle approx. 2 minutes
- Stop engine and immediately check hydraulic oil level using markings on reservoir or dipstick.
- If necessary top off to "MAX" mark.
- Check steering system for leaks.
