Display Group 036
DISPLAY GROUP 036Diagnostic Conditions For Diagnosing Voltage Signal Increase/Decrease (response) Time Of The Front Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S).
NOTES:
^ If the value of the O2S diagnostic is NOT set to "0" in display field of display group up 023 during the resetting of the "Readiness code " and/or a malfunction is stored in the DTC memory that relates to the heated oxygen sensors, the diagnostic conditions (display fields 3 and 4) can be selectively checked and the diagnostic result read (display field 2).
^ If the diagnostic conditions are met, the ECM checks the HO2S voltage signal increase and decrease (response) time for the front HO2Ss. This will be displayed when display groups 026, 027, 038 and 037 are called up, after each engine start-up.
^ The diagnostic conditions are only met (diagnosis active) during a drive of approx. 1-1/2 to 5 min. at 50-62 mph (80-100 km/h) in 4th or 5th gear
^ If a malfunction (DTC) is stored in the DTC memory that relates to O2S diagnostic conditions 1 and 2 (display fields 3 and 4), the diagnostic conditions can not be reached. In this case, first repair malfunction "DTC memory checking/erasing". If a malfunction (DTC) is stored that relates to the front HO2Ss, the diagnostic conditions can be reached, but the diagnostic will not be OK.
^ If the signal increase and decrease (response) times are recognized as OK during the first diagnostic test, diagnosis will end. If the increase/decrease (response) times are recognized as not being OK, diagnostic test will continue. If the same diagnostic test is to be immediately repeated after an OK diagnosis, switch engine off then restart.
DISPLAY OVERVIEW
VAG 1551 Display Overview, Display Group 036:
NOTES ON DISPLAY FIELD 2:
Diagnostic Status or Result Display:
Interpreting The 8-Digit "Diagnostic Status or Result" Display
Value "0" = Diagnostic not active and/or result not OK.
Value "1" = Diagnostic active and/or diagnosis complete (whether OK or not OK) and/or diagnostic result OK.
If after diagnosis, all 8 display values are set to "1" and the engine has been stopped and restarted, display values 1 and 2 will change to "0" and display values 3 through 8 will remain at "1". If during a "trip" the diagnostic conditions are met, display values 1 and 2 are set to "1" (diagnosis active) and display values 3 through 8 are set to "0".
NOTES ON DISPLAY FIELDS 3 & 4:
Oxygen Sensor Diagnosis Conditions 1, Display:
Interpreting The 8-Digit "Oxygen Sensor Diagnostic Conditions 1" Display
Value "0" = Diagnostic condition not met.
Value "1" = Diagnostic condition met.
Oxygen Sensor Diagnostic Conditions 2, Display:
Interpreting The 8-Digit "Oxygen Sensor Diagnostic Conditions 2" Display
For conditions 5 & 6, if the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) system contains a large amount of fuel vapor, perform diagnostic using "Basic Setting" function 04 (EVAP system is switched OFF automatically during function 04).
Value "0" = Diagnostic condition not met.
Value "1" = Diagnostic condition met.
