Rear disc brakes with automatic adjustment from VIN 4A PN 078 949 (1993)CAUTION: Always install all parts included in repair kit.
Brakes can be tested on any commercially available brake dynamometer provided the drive roller speed does not exceed 5.5 km/h (3.3 mph).
1. Parking brake cable
Adjusting: similar to procedure for earlier style caliper; note differences
2. Spring clip
Attaches parking brake cable to support bracket
3. Self-locking bolt
Always replace
35 Nm (26 ft lb)
Hold guide pin to prevent it moving when loosening and tightening
4. Brake caliper housing with lever for parking brake cable
Detach from brake carrier to replace brake pads
Do not disconnect brake hose
5. Brake carrier with guide pins and protective caps
Supplied as replacement part fully assembled with sufficient grease on guide pins
If protective caps have been damaged, install repair kit Part No.443 698 470
Use grease pad provided in repair kit to lubricate guide pins
6. Socket-head mounting bolt 65 Nm (48 ft lb)
7. Brake pads
Replace in pairs
Wear limit: 2 mm (0.08 in)
When pad thickness including backing plate is down to 7 mm (0.28 in), brake pads have reached their wear limit and should be replaced
8. Brake disc
Replace in pairs
Remove brake caliper first
Resurface uniformly on both sides when necessary, starting from thickness when new; make sure that thickness of resurfaced disc is sufficiently above wear limit
Diameter: 245 mm(9.64 in)
Thickness: 10 mm (0.39 in)
Wear limit: 8 mm (0.31 in)
