1. Disarm air bag system as described under Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems), Service and Repair.
2. Remove gear shift lever knob.
3. Remove gear shift lever trim cover from rear center console, Fig. 16.
4. Remove two attaching screws from front of rear console.
5. Remove lining from rear console.
6. Remove cigarette lighter trim plate from rear console.
7. Remove three attaching screws, then the air duct from rear console.
8. Position driver and passenger side fully forward.
9. Pull parking brake lever fully upward.
10. Remove handle from parking lever.
11. Lift rear center console upward, then disconnect electrical connectors.
12. Angle the rear center console over the parking brake lever and remove from vehicle.
13. Remove nut cover from side of front center console, then the nut, Fig. 17.
14. Remove radio unit.
15. Pull out center air outlet.
16. Unclip two trim plates, then remove two attaching screws.
17. Remove A/C and heater control unit knobs.
18. Remove two attaching screws, then the A/C and heater control trim plate.
19. Remove ash tray attaching screws, then the ash tray.
20. Loosen two screws at rear of front center console, then lift front center console upward.
21. Disconnect electrical connectors, then remove center console from vehicle.
22. Remove control module retaining nuts, Fig. 14.
23. Disconnect triggering unit electrical connector, then remove triggering unit.
24. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten control module retaining nuts to specifications.
