Hands Free Microphone and Speaker Installation
MicrophoneThe hands-free microphone is located behind the left A-pillar interior trim piece (arrow).
- Remove left A-pillar trim
- Remove A-pillar clips from trim and transfer them to the new A-pillar trim 1 (arrow)
1 4A0 867 231 D 7ZU left A pillar - ECRU (beige)
1 4A0 867 231 D 8ZU left A pillar - platinum (grey)
- Using two phillips head screws P/N N 13 968 1 in kit P/N 4A0 051 431A install hands-free microphone (3) P/N 4A0 862 373 to the new A-pillar
- Connect microphone plug connector (4) to the microphone harness connector (5)
Note
This harness may be folded and taped down.
- Wrap insulating wrap (6) P/N 447 857 991J in kit P/N 4A0 051 431 A, around connector and wire
- Reinstall A-pillar trim
Hands-free Speaker Assembly
1. Screw - 1.5 Nm (13 in.lb), (installed in production)
2. Washer, equipped with vehicle
3. Speaker grill, equipped with vehicle
4. Speaker wire harness, (installed in production)
Note
The wire harness may be down inside the center console
5. Speaker P/N 893 035 411
6. Center console, equipped with vehicle
7. Screws - 1 Nm (9 in.lb), (installed in production)
8. Telephone handset modular connector, equipped with vehicle
Speaker Installation
The hands-free speaker is located in the center console.
Caution
Use care when removing/installing speaker grill. Tabs on the rear of the grill can be broken off if the grill is forced or removed/installed improperly.
- Remove felt lining from center console tray
- Remove speaker grill screws (1) and carefully remove speaker grill
- Remove screws from telephone handset connector (arrow) and remove connector from grill
- Install speaker using retaining (speed) clips P/N N 012 854 3 on to pins in grill
- Attach speaker wire harness to speaker
- Reinstall in reverse sequence
