The Audi Cabriolet will be supplied with Radio-controlled Central Locking starting week 36/94. Technical changes will be introduced beginning m.y. 1996

This Technical Bulletin contains all information needed for repair. Troubleshooting procedures are also included.

Remote Operated Central locking, repairing

Vehicle can be locked and unlocked without using mechanical vehicle key.

To open, press transmitter UNLOCK button for approximately 1 second. Open doors and/or luggage compartment lid within approximately 30 seconds after radio signal is sent, otherwise vehicle will lock again automatically.

To lock, press transmitter LOCK button for approximately one (1) second.

Note:

^ Ignition on deactivates remote control function.

^ Depending on environmental conditions, the range is 3 to 5 meters (10 to 15 feet).

^ Remote control can be interrupted temporarily because of interference from other microwave signals in area.

^ When LOCKING/UNLOCKING, turn signals are activated (flash).





Central Locking System, components:

^ Control module - radio control -1-, under the rear seat bench.

^ Wiring harness -2- with separate antenna -3-. Insulated part of antenna cable 1 -2 meters (3.3 - 6.4 in.) is fastened to wiring harness with cable ties. Non-insulated part of antenna approx. 20 cm (7.8 in.) is fastened with two adhesive strips to the left wheel house.

^ As many as four transmitters are possible for radio-remote operation.

Control - Module (J276), removing/installing

- Remove rear seat bench and seat back -> Repair Group 72.

- Loosen radio control module mounting bolts.

- Disconnect wiring harness connector at control module.

- Assemble in reverse sequence.
