Removing and Installing
CAUTION:- Do not re-use fasteners that are worn or deformed in normal use.
- Some fasteners are designed to be used only once, and are unreliable and may fall if used a second time. This includes, but is not limited to, nuts, bolts, washers, circlips and cotter pins. Always follow recommendations in this manual-replace these fasteners with new parts where indicated, and any other time it is deemed necessary by inspection.
A/C Compressor and Bracket:
1 - Nut
2 - Washer
3 - Compressor bracket
4 - Socket-head bolt with washer
- 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
5 - A/C compressor with clutch
6 - Washer
7 - Bolt
- 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
Compressor bracket can be removed and installed without discharging the A/C refrigerant system.
To remove compressor from bracket:
- Mark travel direction of ribbed belt
- Remove ribbed belt. See Engine Drive Belts.
- Remove oil filter
- Clamp oil cooler (coolant) hoses using clamp Snap-On YA 2850 or equivalent
- Remove coolant hoses from oil cooler and remove oil cooler
- Disconnect A/C clutch connector
- Remove compressor mounting bolts and remove compressor from bracket
CAUTION: Use wire to support A/C compressor after removing from bracket. Do not allow compressor to hang from A/C lines/hoses.
If A/C compressor is to be removed completely:
- Discharge A/C refrigerant system.
NOTE: To make compressor installation easier, remove engine torque support.
